Sr. Back-end Engineer en TECLA

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to join our core engineering team and take ownership of backend development across two flagship products: Olympus, a next-generation document management platform, and the Relativity Integration, a plugin embedding AI-powered insights into one of the most widely used legal SaaS platforms.

This role involves designing robust APIs, scaling background workers, and contributing to high-quality, production-ready features. You’ll collaborate closely with QA, Product, and Design to shape a product used by legal professionals to surface insights from high volumes of complex documents.

• Design, implement, and maintain backend APIs and background workers using FastAPI and AsyncIO.
• Drive quality across the stack with comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using pytest.
• Own and reduce technical debt by proactively identifying performance bottlenecks, edge cases, and areas for refactoring.
• Collaborate with Product and QA to scope features, write test cases, and define deliverables.
• Translate Figma wireframes into backend logic powering frontend features (close collaboration with Frontend, Product, and Design).
• Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and estimation processes via Asana.
• Ensure observability of backend services via New Relic traces and maintain production readiness standards.

• 7+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade backend systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in FastAPI, AsyncIO, ORMs/DALs, SQLAlchemy, and pytest (unit + E2E).
• Advanced proficiency in Python, including asynchronous programming and RESTful API design.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other relational/NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with message brokers and event-driven systems such as RabbitMQ.
• Track record of working independently with high ownership in Agile environments.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency or familiarity with TypeScript and collaborating with frontend teams.
• Prior experience with document management systems or enterprise SaaS platforms.
• Exposure to the legal tech ecosystem or tools like Relativity.
• Contributions to open-source projects or internal tooling libraries.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, security practices, and observability tools like New Relic.

Work Schedule:

This is a remote position, but candidates must be available during core hours of 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST.
